COVID Care Promise

Before the program departs:
If a traveler is exposed to COVID-19 or tests positive prior to departure, and per the CDC guidelines, cannot travel, the traveler would be eligible for a non-refundable, transferable Future Travel Voucher for all monies paid less the cost of any purchased Global Travel Protection Plan. The traveler must contact EF to cancel to receive their voucher.

While abroad:
If a traveler develops symptoms of COVID-19 while on a program, we will help to facilitate medical attention and testing for the traveler. If, ultimately, the traveler tests positive, our exclusive EF COVID Care Promise will cover the cost of hotel and meals during the isolation period, as well as support from an EF representative.

If a traveler is diagnosed with COVID-19 while on program, EF will provide or arrange for the following, consistent with local requirements, at no additional expense to the traveler throughout the duration of any on-program quarantine period:
  • Lodging and meals
  • EF representatives available to support the traveler and to coordinate with local authorities on their behalf where necessary
  • Assistance connecting with local health care providers
  • Translation services
  • Communication between the traveler and the traveler’s family back home
  • EF-arranged flights home, based on existing itinerary, for the traveler once cleared to return
  • If the diagnosed traveler is a minor, flights for their parent or guardian to join them at the program location

If a traveler or group is not diagnosed with, yet is required to quarantine on account of, COVID-19 while on a program, EF will provide or arrange for the following, consistent with local requirements, at no additional expense to the travelers throughout the duration of any on-program quarantine period:
  • Lodging and meals
  • EF representatives available to support the traveler or group and to coordinate with local authorities on their behalf where necessary
  • Assistance connecting with local health care providers
  • Translation services
  • Communication between the traveler or group and their family or families back home
  • EF-arranged flights home for the traveler or group once cleared to return

Program Interruption
If a traveler contracts COVID while on their program OR is a close contact to someone who has contracted COVID while on their program and as a result must miss all or a part of their program, in addition to facilitating care and/or quarantine for the traveler/group as part of our COVID Care Promise, EF will issue a non-refundable, non-transferable future travel voucher to the traveler with the following terms:
  • If the traveler has missed 50% or more of the program duration, we will issue a voucher for 100% of the program purchase price.
  • If the traveler has missed less than 50% of the program duration, we will issue a voucher for a pro-rated amount of the purchase price calculated on the days missed.
